Beating of the Drums, is about freedom, in all its forms and faces. It is about a people empowered by God for the purpose of  establishing a society where the individual, not the government, is the instrument of ones freedom, future, and fate.

A Broadway musical may seem a strange birthplace for a blog, but Les Miserables, through its music and story line has done just that. If you’ve never seen Les Miserables, or listened to the cast recordings, you owe it yourself to do so.

Les Miserables is a story about the French Revolution, of a people rising up against the established government in hopes of regaining their freedom and independence. Sadly, today, we are entering into our own American, French Revolution.

The first lyrics of, Do You Hear The People Sing, sung by the character Enjolras, encapsulates the heart of this blog, and does so eloquently:

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people,
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart,
Echoes the beating of the drums,
There is a life about to start,
When tomorrow comes!

Our voices become the drums upon which we beat the rhythm of freedom. It is time for us to raise our voices, beat our drums, and let those in power, those who would rule over us, rather than for us, know their reign of  friendly socialism is over.

We are beating the drums of freedom. We will not be enslaved by government, but instead enslaved to the principles of freedom upon which our forefathers created the greatest country in the world, The United States of America.

My thoughts are conservative. My style is acerbic and satiric, and humorous (there is always that hope.)
